What happens when you leave your dog alone?

Updated: Oct 7, 2020

Leaving your best buddy is likely the worst part of your day. Unfortunately, it can be just as hard for them as it is for you.

The first time you leave your dog, they can experience extreme separation anxiety.

Walking all around the house, whining and barking, they may also urinate on the floor in efforts to relieve some anxiety.

They have no idea where you have gone and whether you are going to come back for them. If only we could explain to them that we were just going to the corner store to buy them some treats.

After a while, they will notice your pattern and cues as to when you might be leaving.

Although they are used to you heading off to work, this doesn’t mean their anxiety goes away entirely.

Like us humans, some dogs just deal better with stress than others. Either way, it is important to find a suitable coping mechanism for your dog while you’re away.

The Pawfect Surprise interactive ball, can occupy your dog for hours. Before you leave, put some of their favourite treats inside and let them sniff it out.

Once they’ve got their eye on the prize, you can easily leave them be.

But, we care deeply about animals here at Pawfect Surprise and if you don’t think you can spend quality time with a dog, wait until you can. Their whole life revolves around YOU, so make sure you can be there for them.

Have a pawfect day and as always, give your dog a cuddle for us!
